As a country we saw the day when everything we stand for was challenged. On September 11th, 2001 we were under attack. Many lost lives due to a heartless act of terrorism. As Americans, we knew we had to be more united than ever. Creating The American Freedom Series is my voice joining the country to make sure something positive comes out of the negative. This is my contribution to the memory of the thousands of innocent people who perished unnecessarily. This is to say we will forever fight for our American Freedom.
Standing with dignity and honor, Lady Liberty is a symbol of strength and endurance. Through peaceful and adverse times, America remains a pillar of justice, hope and freedom. We will always stand united and pursue Liberty's Flight. (Look in the mountains closely and see the Statue of Liberty!)
America's strength and beliefs have made this country a home to people seeking freedom. We have no boundaries. Like the bald eagle, we can soar to great heights and weather any storm. We can achieve our dreams by riding On Freedom's Wing.
New York honored the memory of all that were lost on September 11th by sending up two large rays of light in place of the twin towers. Reflections of Freedom is an interpretation of the heavens sending back two rays of light as a tribute to our strength and unity in a time of crisis.
In the tradition of the "American Freedom" series, Rick Kelley has created a new painting focusing on our national symbol, the bald eagle. Rick's idea was to show the colorful contrasts of our nation, the strength of our freedom and the power of our belief that all people were created equal and have the right to pursue their dreams. The American Bald Eagle carrying the colors of our nation symbolizes "The Patriot" in all of us.
It is the Kelley's family goal to help the continuing efforts in helping the victims of hurricane Katrina by donating 30 percent of the retail sales through the Salvation Army and the Habitat for Humanity International, from the sales of both "The Forgiveness of Sin" and "The Patriot."
On 9/11, America experienced devastation on our soil unlike ever before. The response to this tragedy was one of compassion and love. As a result, loved ones traveled across the globe to protect other countries and maintain the security of our land.
We, as a nation, owe a debt of gratitude to these soldiers who have given their hearts, souls and lives to protect the values and beliefs our country was founded upon.
The newest painting created by Rick Kelley shows the American bald eagle proudly carrying the colors of pride back to our homeland from other nations, while watching over American soldiers and the families of the fallen that will not be forgotten. We thank you and look forward to all of our heroes “Coming Home.”
